Barley|Pfeiffer Renovation Design Process
- Programming/Schematic Design (SD) Phase: This phase focuses on understanding your goals, reviewing budget and site conditions, and developing initial plans, elevations, and concepts that show how spaces will relate to each other and the existing home.
- Design Development (DD) Phase: When we refine the approved schematic design, incorporating builder feedback and developing more detailed 1/4" scale plans to resolve specifics such as room sizes, window and door placement, materials, and energy-saving strategies. In this stage, drawings are advanced toward construction documents, elevations are further detailed, and updated plans can be returned to the builder for more accurate cost estimating.
- Construction Documents (CD) Phase: Here we finalize and details the design, incorporating updated builder estimates while developing structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and interior elevations and specifications. During this phase, plans are refined through several meetings to confirm layouts, materials, cabinetry, fixtures, and system locations, resulting in comprehensive documents ready for construction and permitting.
- Bidding/Construction Administration (CA) Phase: During construction, we perform periodic site reviews, coordinate field revisions, answer builder questions, and keep you informed through meetings and ongoing communication to help ensure the project is built according to the design intent.
