"We have been amazed at how low our energy bills have been. The house was designed to include a PV system and we added a 3 kilowatt system soon after construction. With that system in place, at the peak of summer heat our electricity bill has been at most $125.00 and in the spring and fall stays around $25.00 a month. Our gas bill varies between $15.00 and $30.00 a month. We tend to keep the house cooled to between 76 and 78 in the summer and heated to 72 during the day in the winter. Often we don't need to run the A/C until after noon even on the hottest days and when the heat is lower often only run it before going to bed, as much to pull humidity out of the air as to cool things down."
"As you know, we have been in our new Hill Country Home for several months now. We continue to love every aspect of it. We think of the design process and three of you frequently.
We worked with an Architect years ago in California. We have also worked with a number of home designers over the years. None of those experiences can compare with our experience with Barley & Pfeiffer. This is true of the design process, managing expectations against budget, cost forecasting, breadth of knowledge, attention to detail and project management. The combination of innovative design coupled with your knowledge of building performance (thermal envelop, mechanical systems, lighting, etc.) is the best I have encountered. Also, Sharon's inspection reports were the best I have seen. It was truly a pleasure working with professionals such as yourselves.
