PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

What started out as a simple remodel to an existing ranch house along the shores of Lake Austin became an exercise in Mediterranean Architecture and re-evaluating our client's spatial needs. The existing home essentially became the center section of a "U"-shaped design that would focus the main aspects of daily life for our client toward the active lake.

An open courtyard was created by adding two wings to the existing structure. A full-length portico wraps the interior of the courtyard, providing a covered walk, as well as shading for the adjoining living spaces. The columns are of locally-quarried limestone and the ample overhangs have redwood ceilings to add a degree of warmth.
